Rayelynn Connole began her teaching career over 15 years ago, working with at-risk youth in a wilderness treatment program. This first teaching experience shaped her as an educator and she knew that she would always yearn for teaching. Zach Hawkins is the Upward Bound coordinator at Helena and Capital high schools and is also an instructor in the summer academy. He grew up near Troy, Montana and attended a one room school through the 8th grade. He graduated from MSU Bozeman and was a ski bum and social studies teacher on the Fort Belknap and Blackfeet Indian Reservations prior to working for Technical Outreach. |

Amy Verlanic is the Director of Technical Outreach at Montana Tech where she works to provide K-12 teachers and students with college-based programs that enrich statewide science, engineering, and technology education.
Amy holds a bachelor's degree in Society and Technology with minors in Organizational Management and Finance and has completed course work towards a graduate degree in Technical Communication.
In addition to her numerous campus assignments, she is an elected trustee for Montana School District # 10 in Anaconda. Mrs. Verlanic is an active volunteer with ASPIRE, Inc. and the Council for Opportunity in Education; both are professional development and lobbying organizations that advocate for educational access and opportunities for low-income and disadvantaged students.
She has earned many accolades through her career and community work. Amy has been a Michael Schwerner National Activist Award Nominee, Anaconda Spark Plug Award recipient, U.S. Department of Education Task Force on Technical Program Access delegate, and the U.S. Army’s Most Influential Educators Award recipient
